Bridging the Gap Health & Wellness Expo

April 1, 2017, 9:00am - April 1, 2017, 1:00pm

Bridging the Gap is returning with its ambassadors full of empowerment to spread a wellness message to family, friends, and the community on what they can do to take better care of their health through their mind, body, and soul. The event will be held on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on the campus of Lima Senior High School. The free event will be held in the auditorium, dining hall, and throughout various classrooms of the high school. While the target audience is African-American men, women, and children of all ages, all community members are welcome to learn about the health disparities among minorities. To inform the participants on the various diseases and prevention, the event’s goals are to: • Increase health awareness and disease prevention education for the African-American community members by providing a variety of free health screenings. • Increase awareness of local, state, and national health services and resources. • Motivate participants to make positive health behavior changes in mind, body, and soul. • Teach self-care practices to enhance well-being between doctor visits to maintain physical and mental health by reducing risk of diseases. About Bridging the Gap: Bridging the Gap is a healthcare initiative with a mission to close the gap and prevent diseases in the area, especially in the African-American population. In 2014, Bridging the Gap’s kick-off event focused on breast cancer and raising awareness in the population of African-American women.
