Olympic gold-winning gymnast Mary Lou Retton is critically ill in the ICU. Mary Lou is reportedly dealing with a rare form of pneumonia, as revealed by her daughter, McKenna Kelley on her Instagram Stories.
McKenna has started a SpotFund to help with her mother’s medical expenses, as she says her mother does not have health insurance. “We ask that if you could help in any way, that 1) you PRAY! and 2) if you could help us with finances for the hospital bill…Thank y’all so very much,” she shared.
The fundraising goal is set at $50,000 and already has hundreds of donors. As of last night, they already blew past the $50,000 they were asking for! Mary Lou was the first American woman to secure the all-around gold in the 1984 Olympics. She was honored by the International Gymnastics Hall of Fame in 1997, and the Houston Sports Hall of Fame in 2020.
