Mary Lou Retton has reportedly suffered a setback in her recovery from a “very rare form of pneumonia.”

The former Olympic gymnast has been in the hospital since earlier this month, and just as she appeared to be improving, she experienced a complication. Her daughter, Shayla Schrepfer, shared a video on Instagram and said, “We were so excited, seeing so much progress and then yesterday we had a pretty scary setback. She is still in ICU and we’re just working through some things as far as her setback goes. So I just wanted to give an update there.”

Just a few days ago, Mary Lou’s daughters said in an Instagram post, “Mom’s progress is truly remarkable! Prayers have been felt and have been answered.”
