The Allen County Sheriff’s Office will be hosting their 2nd Annual National Night Out at the Allen County Fairgrounds in the Roschman Park area (Shelter House and Pond). This year’s event will run from 5:30 PM to 9:00 PM. We will once again have the entire lineup of Sheriff’s Office Teams and Divisions proudly on display to demonstrate their abilities, enhance communication and promote safety. Some of the services you will get to see will be: the Sheriff’s Office K-9 Corps, the SWAT Team, Dive Team, Patrol Division and Bomb Squad. We will also be joined by the Perry Township Fire Department and Police Department, the Allen County Emergency Management Agency, the Johnny Appleseed Metro Park District and several others. Free food and games will be available, along with kid activities.
They have collaborated again with the great staff of Anytime Fitness (2119 Elida Rd., Lima) to host a 5K during our National Night Out event to benefit the Allen County D.A.R.E. program. The 5K will be at the fairgrounds and will begin and end close to Roschman Park. It is tentatively scheduled for a 7:00 PM start time. Registration forms and 5K informational flyers are available at www.acso-oh.us. Completed registration forms and payment should be returned to Anytime Fitness; 2119 Elida Road; Lima, Ohio 45805. Registration is $20 for participants 18 and older and $10 for anyone 18 years of age and younger ($5 additional for day-of registrations). Checks should be made payable to Allen County D.A.R.E. Prizes for overall first-, second- and third-place winners. All participants ages 12 and younger who complete the race will receive prizes.
