BICYCLE SAFETY DAY

May 11 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

The 14th annual Bicycle Safety Day will take place Saturday, May 11 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the TSC Garage and the Wapakoneta Fire Department on Willipie Street, with the help of the Wapakoneta Fire Department and the Wapakoneta Police Department Bike Patrol.

The Auglaize County Sheriff’s Office, D.A.R.E. Officer, St. Rita’s Trauma Unit, New Kiwanis Club Of Wapakoneta and Cranker’s Cycling will also be supporting the event.

The purpose of this day is to educate children and adults of the community on the importance of bicycle safety, along with giving away free bicycle helmets to those 18 years of age and younger.

There will also be special guest appearance by Mayor Dan Lee, with opening remarks. Local race car drivers will speak with the children one on one about safety awareness, how their helmet is always part of their safety gear.

It is asked that every child bring their bicycle for the bike rodeo and to get free inspections along with repairs if needed. Your child will sit on their bikes for a good fitting, with their handle bars, brakes and seat, as a bike to large is not a safe ride.

The event will take place rain or shine.
