Deciding what to name your baby is serious business and many parents-to-be turn to baby name lists for ideas and inspiration. Baby Center is a popular site for lists of names, but their new research is about which ones won’t be on those top baby name lists. They looked at the top 500 names of babies born in 2021 and 2022 and analyzed which ones are on a downward trajectory and could basically go extinct this year.
Baby names falling out of favor include names that start with “K,” like Khalid, Kameron, Kain, Kian, Kyle and Kobe for boys and Kate, Katherine, Kenzie and Kira for girls. According to Baby Center’s data, top drops for girls also include Joy, which dropped 112 spots from the previous year, and London, down 93 spots.
