The Pepsi Degeneration
A Florida man was taken into custody after a spectacularly unsuccessful attempt to break out of a convenience store where he’d tried to steal a Pepsi.
The suspect, identified only as Gabriel, grabbed a bottle of soda from a cooler at a Citgo station in the town of Mulberry, then tried to leave without paying. The on-duty clerk saw what was going on and activated the electronic lock to prevent the man from bolting.
When the 49-year-old found the door locked, he tried to smash the glass with a nearby fire extinguisher, but ended up breaking the extinguisher instead. The clerk eventually released the lock, but cops found Gabriel two blocks away. According to the police report, “The deputy asked Gabriel if he knew what was going on, to which Gabriel replied, ‘Possibly.’” (New York Daily News)
