POOR HAND SANITIZER
Hand sanitizer is in short supply nowadways with the coronvirus threat. But did you know you can combine vodka, aloe gel and essential oils to create your own hand sanitizer? Whip up a nontoxic DIY hand sanitizer using the instructions below, which packs in the germ-killing power of alcohol and antibacterial lavender and tea tree essential oils. Plus, it includes the soothing properties of aloe vera to keep your fingers from drying out. Here are the step-by-step instructions to make DIY hand sanitizer:
- Step 1: Fill your bottle 1/4 to 1/3 of the way full with vodka. (* Since we aired this segment, we learned that the vodka would have to be 60% alcohol to be effective, so maybe just drink this instead.)
- Step 2: Add 10 to 15 drops each of tea tree essential oil and lavender essential oil. These two essential oils have natural anti-bacterial properties, and together they smell great, making them an ideal combo.
- Step 3: Fill your bottle the rest of the way with aloe vera gel and shake well.
- Step 4: Use as needed.
