We Spoke to Dr. Jason Stienecker, in the Pulmonary/Critical Care unit at Lima Memorial about Lung Cancer. Lung cancer takes more lives than breast, prostate and colon cancers combined. Most often, lung cancer is diagnosed in the later stages when symptoms first present. Finding lung cancer early, before symptoms present is key to successful treatment. Lima Memorial offers a low-dose CT lung screening for those at increased risk for lung cancer. The screening criteria includes: 55-77 years of age, active smoker or has quit within the last 15 years, smoking history of 30-pack years, and displaying no signs or symptoms of lung cancer. If you think you might be at risk, talk to your primary care provider about a lung cancer screening. A simple test could save your life.
