It seems Fox News has been making news more than it’s been reporting on it lately, and now it’s coming under fire again for a comment one of its on-air personalities made about Ivanka Trump.
Jesse Watters, who was a frequent O’Reilly Factor contributor and now co-hosts the round-table show The Five, was commenting on President Trump’s daughter visiting Berlin to speak at the Women 20 summit. He was talking about how Ivanka was getting booed while defending her father’s support for women. But it’s a hand gesture and comment he made that critics are saying was inappropriate.
While watching Ivanka speaking to the audience, Watters made a hand gesture and joked, “So I don’t really get what’s going on here, but I really liked how she was speaking into that microphone.” Social media immediately jumped on him with tweets like, “Jesse Watters, you’re a disgusting pig as well as being a racist moron” and “Fox, clean it up. Microphone comments? Comments on hosts dresses? Get rid of those who cannot measure up.”
Watters is defending his comment, explaining, “During the break we were commenting on Ivanka’s voice and how it was low and steady and resonates like a smooth jazz radio DJ. This was in no way a joke about anything else.” (USA Today)
