FIDO FRIDAY: ADOPT “WINTER”
Meet Winter! Winter was found in the dead of winter last winter (you can see where the name comes from). At the time, she had 11 puppies. The puppies are fine and have all since been adopted, but Winter still needs a home. Winter is a super-friendly dog and is very active. Learn more about Winter by contacting Deb’s Dogs today.
Deb’s Dogs is a non profit 501-c-3 organization that depends on donations and adoption fees to fund animals’ vet care. Most of the dogs that come into their care come from The Allen County Dog Warden Facility. Usually the dogs they take from the shelter are the ones that need extra attention. The animals may have been neglected, abused or injured. Once they take the dogs they go to the vet for a complete checkup. If they are healthy enough at this time, they are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Sometimes Deb’s Dog’s has to wait awhile for this due to the condition of the animal. Deb’s Dogs works with Oakwood Correctional Facility and their dog harbor program. This is an excellent training program where an inmate takes a dog for a period of time and works with the animal on basic commands, house training and socialization. It is a great experience for the dog and the inmate. They learn from each other and the inmates take a lot of time and effort with these dogs.. Since Deb’s Dog’s does not have a facility, this program is an important part of their rescue efforts.
