The Lima Police Department found Lucky in bad shape on a porch in Lima with multiple puncture wounds. At first they thought Lucky had been hit by a car, but after a closer examination, it was determined that Lucky had been attacked by at least two other dogs. Lucky was patched up, and has since gone through the prison training program. And despite being attacked by other dogs, Lucky still gets along great with other dogs. Lucky is a fantastic dog, with a great personality, and knows some basic commands. Lucky is all ready to join your family!
Deb’s Dogs is a non profit 501-c-3 organization that depends on donations and adoption fees to fund animals’ vet care. Most of the dogs that come into their care come from The Allen County Dog Warden Facility. Usually the dogs they take from the shelter are the ones that need extra attention. The animals may have been neglected, abused or injured. Once they take the dogs they go to the vet for a complete checkup. If they are healthy enough at this time, they are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Sometimes Deb’s Dog’s has to wait awhile for this due to the condition of the animal. Deb’s Dogs works with Oakwood Correctional Facility and their dog harbor program. This is an excellent training program where an inmate takes a dog for a period of time and works with the animal on basic commands, house training and socialization. It is a great experience for the dog and the inmate. They learn from each other and the inmates take a lot of time and effort with these dogs.. Since Deb’s Dog’s does not have a facility, this program is an important part of their rescue efforts.
