Adopt Charlie! Charlie is an 8 month old Yorkie/Doxi mix. He has a very special story to tell. The very first day his new owner brought him home, Charlie got away from her. They searched everywhere but couldn’t find him. Last week a friend called Deb’s Dogs and said there was a little black dog that had been hanging out by a business for 3 weeks in the same area where Charlie was lost. They could not catch him. Deb went over there with a humane trap and caught the dog, and sure enough it was Charlie. It was a miracle that he survived that long by himself. It only took a little bit to gain his trust. The owner decided to surrender him to Deb because she was afraid Charlie would get out again, and she lives on a busy street. Charlie is a little timid when a new person first meets him, but he has come along way. Charlie will require a fenced in yard when he is out to play. He gets along great with other small dogs.
Deb’s Dogs is a non profit 501-c-3 organization that depends on donations and adoption fees to fund animals’ vet care. Most of the dogs that come into their care come from The Allen County Dog Warden Facility. Usually the dogs they take from the shelter are the ones that need extra attention. The animals may have been neglected, abused or injured. Once they take the dogs they go to the vet for a complete checkup. If they are healthy enough at this time, they are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Sometimes Deb’s Dog’s has to wait awhile for this due to the condition of the animal.
