It’s Fido and Feline Friday! Meet Bernice the cat and Ringo the dog.
Bernice is the sweetest cat. When Deb got her, Bernice was already declawed (Deb’s Dogs doesn’t declaw). She loves sitting on laps. She’s spade and is a very friendly cat.
Ringo is about 14-months old and is a Lab-Pointer mix. He’s been through Deb’s training program and knows is commands and is house trained. He loves people and other animals and would be a great addition to a family.
The Deb’s Dogs Garage Sale we talked about on the air will be on Saturday, July 28th, all day starting at 9 am. It’ll be at 1403 Crayton Avenue in Lima.
Deb’s Dogs is a non profit 501-c-3 organization that depends on donations and adoption fees to fund animals’ vet care. Most of the dogs that come into their care come from The Allen County Dog Warden Facility. Usually the dogs they take from the shelter are the ones that need extra attention. The animals may have been neglected, abused or injured. Once they take the dogs they go to the vet for a complete checkup. If they are healthy enough at this time, they are vaccinated and spayed or neutered. Sometimes Deb’s Dog’s has to wait awhile for this due to the condition of the animal. Deb’s Dogs works with Oakwood Correctional Facility and their dog harbor program. This is an excellent training program where an inmate takes a dog for a period of time and works with the animal on basic commands, house training and socialization. It is a great experience for the dog and the inmate. They learn from each other and the inmates take a lot of time and effort with these dogs.. Since Deb’s Dog’s does not have a facility, this program is an important part of their rescue efforts.
