A 10-year-old Ohio boy got behind the wheel of his mother’s car yesterday (Thursday) and led police on a high-speed chase from Cleveland to Sandusky.
Cops say the boy stole the car and and drove it on the Ohio Turnpike, where he reached speeds of 100 miles per hour. Police received a 911 call from a motorist who reported seeing a speeding car swerving in and out of lanes and nearly running other cars off the road. It was also being pursued by another speeding car, presumably being driven by the boy’s mother.
Four police cars joined the chase, which covered about 20 miles. After speeding through toll booths and driving onto a grassy shoulder, police were finally able to nudge the boy’s car, which slammed into a road sign, and ultimately got him to stop. He was taken into custody and transported to the hospital for an evaluation. No injuries were reported. He has since been turned over to Children’s Services as criminal charges are being considered.
Shockingly, this is the second time in two weeks that the boy has taken a car for a joyride and been arrested.
