Hurricane Matthew is battering the Bahamas today as it sets its sights on Florida’s Atlantic coast.
The storm is packing sustained winds of 125 mph and is located around 250 miles southeast of West Palm Beach. It is expected to straddle Florida’s coastline overnight tonight into tomorrow as a Category-three storm but could intensify to a Category-four. Residents in coastal areas, from Florida to South Carolina, have evacuated ahead of the storm and the National Guard has been called in to assist with the evacuations. Hurricane Matthew has so far claimed 16 lives in the Caribbean, including 10 in Haiti.
