A New Mexico restaurant owner has a major beef with a crook who broke into his joint to steal some major beef — more than 200 pounds of brisket cooking inside a smoker that the thief made off with.
Daniel Morgan, owner of the popular Pepper’s Ole Fashion BBQ, says someone got onto his property in the wee hours of Sunday morning, when the 1,700-pound smoker was midway through cooking the next day’s meals, then simply wheeled it away. The pitmaster, who’s been featured on several Food Network shows, said he thought the saucy bandit might’ve been “tempted by the meat smell” before making off with the $6,000 smoker.
He’s considering a crowdfunding effort to replace the lost items, but says “prayers … that’s what we need most of all.”
