This week we talked with Dr. Anike about coronary artery disease. More than 3 million cases of Coronary Artery Disease are diagnosed each year. The usual cause is the buildup of plaque, causing the Coronary Arteries to narrow, thus limiting blood flow to the heart. It can range from no symptoms, to chest pain, to a heart attack. Treatments include lifestyle changes, medication, angioplasty, and surgery.

The healthcare professionals at Lima Memorial Health System are at the forefront in our region when providing medical treatment for coronary artery disease. To learn more about preventing and screening for coronary artery disease, contact your personal physician or call Lima Memorial’s Heart Institute at 419-228-3335.
