A 24-story apartment building in London was on fire early Wednesday morning with firefighters attempting to rescue those still inside.
The blaze at Grenfell Tower started just before 1 a.m. At least 30 people were transported to five local hospitals, the London Ambulance Service confirmed. Up to 200 fire fighters were battling the blaze with 40 engines and at least 20 ambulances at the scene.
The cause of the fire that went from the second floor to the top of the building was not immediately known.
London Mayor Sadiq Khan called the fire a “major incident” in a brief statement on Twitter.
