Dolly Parton announced that she will be donating $1,000 a month to each family affected by the wildfires that have devastated parts of eastern Tennessee.

The blaze has burned about 15,000 acres along the Great Smoky Mountains and is responsible for seven deaths. More than 700 homes and businesses have been destroyed and 14,000 people have been evacuated. Dolly, who says she is heartbroken, tweeted a video in which she pledges to help everyone affected. She says, “Now I’ve always believed that charity begins at home, and that’s why I’ve asked my Dollywood companies … plus my Dollywood Foundation to help me establish a My People Fund. Now we want to provide a hand up to all those families who have lost everything in the fires. And to recover, we want to make sure the Dollywood Foundation provides $1,000 a month to all those families that have lost their homes in the fires, until they get back up on their feet.”

Dolly also asked others to join her effort by donating to the fund by visiting her website HERE.
