Charlie Sheen is effectively pawning his most prized possession: a World Series ring that once belonged to baseball slugger Babe Ruth.
The ring is valued at more than 2 million dollars. It honors the New York Yankees victory in the 1927 World Series. Sheen placed it on auction, which closes on Friday. However, bids have only reached half a million dollars.
Sheen is desperate to raise cash. He’ll even accept the low-ball offers. Sheen told ESPN, (quote) “The time has come. Whatever price it brings is gravy.”
A friend revealed that Charlie always swore he’d never sell Babe Ruth’s ring. But since confirming his HIV-status, Sheen’s been short of money. This friend claimed, (quote) “Charlie is down on his luck and flat broke. He’s lowered himself to making appearances with other also-rans of TV fame where fans pay for celebrity autographs.” (Radar Online)
