A liquor store in Arcadia, California is cleaning up a huge mess after a peacock wandered in and went on a boozy rampage.
The manager of the Royal Oaks Liquor Store says a customer alerted him to a bird inside the store that he initially thought was a chicken. But once he saw the colorful feathers, there was no doubt that it was a peacock, or more accurately, a female peahen. The manager, Rano Ghanem, tried to guide the bird out of the store but it became aggressive, flapping its wings and flying onto the top shelf of the store.
Ghanem called police and an animal control officer arrived with a net. But the more they tried to capture the bird, the more aggressive it got — and the more bottles of wine and liquor it smashed on the floor. Eventually, the store manager was finally able to grab the bird and carry it out of the store.
The peahen’s 90-minute rampage caused about $500 in damage.
